The Kia Niro EV was presented with some additional specifications at the Busan Motor Show in Korea.

This time around, the Korean automaker introduced two new battery options, a US-exclusive 64 kWh battery for 236 miles of range and a 39.2 kWh battery pack with 150 miles of range in other markets. Those figures translate to a zero to 62mph time of 7.8 seconds and an 80 per cent charge in one hour with a 100kW fast charger.

Last January, Kia also presented the electric car in concept form at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show, without providing performance numbers. As usual for Kia, the various shows presented new specifications, with CES showing its concept, and then the International Electric Vehicle Expo in Jeju, Korea showing its production version.

On the driver assistance side, the Niro EV has Level 2 autonomy, which the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) defines as a driver assistance feature that allows “both steering and acceleration/deceleration based on driver information. environment”. This means adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane keeping assist, where the driver is expected to take control of the wheel.

The Niro EV will debut in Europe at the Paris Motor Show in October, before going on sale in Korea before the end of the year and expanding to other markets.
