Changing your car’s oil is critical to keeping your engine running smoothly. While most people take their vehicle to the dealer or local mechanic, making it yourself is not too difficult and will leave you with some money in your pocket. However, the best way to pour the oil into the engine is probably not what you expect.

you it does not need to be bent very mechanically for own oil change, although you need to know which oil is right for your car. While removing the filter can sometimes be a real mistakethe trick is not to put it on so tight. A quart of oil can be had for as little as $6 at your local auto parts store, making changing your oil one of the more affordable tasks you can undertake. Even that is possible to really squeeze those pennies and do an oil change yourself for about $20.

A quart of engine oil has a side-swept spout, not in the middle like most fluid containers. Normally, whenever we pour a fluid, our brain tells us to move the spout closer to the receiving container to avoid spillage… but that’s not the case with engine oil.

The explanation is coming CarDiy on YouTube.

or Why are oil bottles like that?

I’m sure most people who do their own maintenance on a regular basis have already figured this out. But today I was a year old when I found out why engine oil jugs have this clever but unintuitive design that prevents the oil from “sticking”. Makes me curious about those “flashing liquid” bottles though.

just remember when changing your own oil, make sure the jack stands are stable. Also, be sure to properly dispose of old engine oil because it can be dangerous not only for you, but also for the environment. Ask your local auto parts store if they have disposal options.
