In the realm of luxury, more is often better, so the facelifted Bentley Bentayga in Malaysia is now offered in extended wheelbase (EWB) guise to provide more room in the second row for a likely chauffeur-driven vehicle. .

The 5,322mm long Bentayga EWB, combined with all the extra 180mm in the rear doors, along with a wheelbase that has increased from the standard-length Bentayga’s 2,995mm to 3,175mm, provides more cabin space than any other luxury competitor, Bentley says; Rear legroom for the Bentayga EWB is claimed to be 1058mm, while rear headroom is 972mm.

This particular example of the Bentayga EWB is specified with airline seat specification, the most advanced seating system available in a car, says Bentley. This offers 22-way adjustment and world-firsts such as automatic climate sensing and posture adjustment technology.

For maximum space, the Relax mode on the Airline Seat Specification seats allows up to 40 degrees of recline, and the front passenger seat is set to move forward for more space, and the leather-covered footrest opens from the rear. from the front passenger seat.

Business Mode, on the other hand, puts the seat in the most upright position to offer the best possible car working position in the vehicle. Also included is automatic climate seat technology that senses occupant temperature and humidity and then determines whether heating, ventilation, or both is needed to keep occupants in “optimal thermal comfort.”

The seat position and pressure points of the passengers can also be fine-tuned through the body positioning system. It measures pressure on the surface of the seat and can perform 177 individual pressure changes in six independent pressure zones over three hours to improve comfort and minimize fatigue during travel.

The Bentayga further strengthens the wellness task of the Azure equipment with the Bentley Diamond Illumination, which emits light through the perforations of the soft-touch interior door upholstery, and being a Bentley, about 24 billion combinations are possible in the specifications of the covers alone.

This particular example wears a Camel and Beluga color split, while the wood trim is open-pore Koa typically found in the Hawaiian Islands, paired with Onyx Black exterior paint and 22-inch 10-spoke directional wheels. These are fitted with 285/40R22 tyres, with Pirelli P Zero being the tire of choice in this example.

For suspension, self-adjusting air suspension acts on double wishbones at the front and a multi-link arrangement at the rear, with continuous damping control and a 48-volt active anti-roll bar system on the front and rear axles. Brakes are ventilated iron discs with 400mm six-piston calipers at the front and 380mm sliding calipers at the rear.

All-wheel steering enables a turning circle of 11.8 metres, 7% less than that of the standard wheelbase Bentayga, which has the dual benefits of confident handling at high speeds and comfortable maneuvering at low speeds, says Bentley.

Infotainment features a 10.9-inch touchscreen, gesture control, navigation with 3D building display, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and optional digital TV reception; other supported features include voice control and text-to-speech.

Connectivity also includes Bluetooth, a 4G phone module, a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and a touchscreen remote control and optional rear seat dashboard with wireless headphones; six USB-C ports are also included.

Sound on the Azure example of the Bentayga EWB is Bentley Premium Audio top-of-the-range Naim, which puts out 1,720 watts across 20 channels with 20 speakers, including super tweeters.

The Bentayga EWB’s safety package includes collision detection and mitigation systems, with a passive safety package consisting of driver and passenger airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, and front and rear seat thorax airbags. Driver assistance systems include head-up display, night vision, parking assist, traffic sign recognition and more.

Bentayga EWB’s 2,514 kg is the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine, the only powertrain available, which produces 550 hp at 6,000 rpm and 770 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm. Outputs go to permanent all-wheel drive via an eight-speed automatic transmission with Torsen center differential and open rear differential with electronic differential lock.

The Bentayga EWB Azure equipped in this way reaches the 0-100 km/h acceleration benchmark in 4.6 seconds, and its top speed is 290 km/h.

In Malaysia, the Bentley Bentayga extended wheelbase starts from RM1,091,000 before duties, taxes and registration, or RM2,508,000 with customs duties paid.
